Route summary

The Caldon Canal runs for 18 miles from Stoke to Froghall, with a three-mile branch to Leek. Open to cyclists, the canal towpath provides a traffic free route through the picturesque Churnet Valley. For around one mile, the canal joins the River Churnet, which in turn shares the valley with the Churnet Valley Railway.

Frogall Wharf has picnic tables, parking, toilet facilities and an information office and is the most obvious starting point for people arriving with vehicles. A free route map of the canal and its places of interest is available from the information office.
