Noyers-sur-Serein

Yet another wonderful example of a French medieval village.
Arriving a little later than planned we found the market was just winding down though this was made up for by perfect blue sky weather, ideal for lazily exploring the back streets and alley ways.

Ancient half timbered buildings, architectural detail and adornment are everywhere, in fact only the proliferation of TV aerials and motor vehicles remind you of the present day. One could well be 150 years in the past.

The French, unlike the British, seem to have a knack for non-intrusive preservation, which together with a minimum of street furniture and signage, gives remarkable cohesion to this agglomeration of buildings, roads and alley ways.
