Camping Les Marronniers de Ste Opp, Sainte-Opportune-la-Mare

The toilet and shower facilities are in need of refurbishment though there is a washing machine and drier. The electrical hookups were of the older reversed polarity type. There is a childrens play area and newly constructed (fenced in) swimming pool.

The site takes a little finding and if arriving by motor home or towing a caravan one might need to proceed with a little caution since all approaches to the site are along very narrow country lanes. These same country lanes provide some excellent cycle routes.

The tariff at June 2006 of 19 euros per night for 2 persons, 1 tent and 1 car is perhaps a little expensive for the level of amenities. For those willing to forgo some creature comforts this tranquil campsite, being conveniently situated for visits to nearby heritage sites, may be ideal.

Bourneville, a few kilometers south-east of Sainte-Opportune-la-Mare, has an Office de Tourisme, where the English speaking staff are very polite and helpful.

South of Sainte-Opportune-la-Mare is the larger town of Pont Audemer, with an attractive cobbled main street and half-timbered buildings with canals running between them. The church of Saint-Ouen is noted for its Renaissaince stained glass windows.
