These RORO (roll on roll off) ferries provide a quick way to cross the River Seine, avoiding unnecessary mileage using the bridges entails. One caveat, I understand caravans may be barred from using them.
The service operates approximately every 30 minutes. Boarding and crossing takes only a few minutes and you can stay with your vehicle.
If you just miss one, spend 30 minutes admiring the River Seine and be amazed at the size of the ships that are able to navigate this section of river.
I am still rather puzzled as to whether or not these Bacs are toll free. Over a period of about one week we used the one at Jumièges several times and never once were we asked to pay.
